February 2023: a busy month for events

After months of disruption, February 2023 was the month that live events were back on track.

From beginning to end, February was almost certainly the busiest post-pandemic month for Smart Digital, with our crews in action filming major events across the UK, Europe and Dubai.

Arab Health took us into the first two days of February with a focus on transformation and innovation in healthcare with nearly 40 videos, including daily highlights filmed at the event by our local crew in Dubai.

February 1 was also the opening day for Pharmapack 2023 and a schedule packed with interviews, vox pops and highlights. The European hub for the pharma packaging and drug delivery device industry brought together more than 5,000 industry professionals at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, plus more than 3,000 visitors.

It was back to the studio next for Mobile World Live’s MWC23 Preview Unwrapped week. The four-day live broadcast kicked off with the announcement of the shortlist for The Global Mobile Awards ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Sessions included interviews with exhibitors, teasers and discussions around the hot trends at MWC with both live and virtual guests.

At the same time, our Dubai crew were back in action filming the 22nd edition of Medlab Middle East. Organisers Informa declared the event to be a “roaring success” attracting 29,755 professional visits and more than 700 exhibitors from 40 countries.

In what proved to be a very busy week in the global events calendar, ICE London returned to its usual February slot at ExCeL for its biggest and busiest edition. A full broadcast Studio on the showfloor hosted discussions which were livestreamed to the big screen network around the venue and across the world via the ICE 365 platform. Live broadcast segments also took the discussions to different sections of the show floor, including the Consumer Protection Zone and Esports Arena.

Dedicated crews ensured insights from speakers at the ICE Vox education programme and the exhibition floor were all covered. The highlights team captured all of the action from the day and our blog team ensured reports from all corners of ICE were published to the ICE365 platform and included within the daily newsletter.

Further downs the halls at ExCeL, iGB Affiliate London, also saw record visitor numbers through the doors with all of the innovations from the show floor captured in the daily highlights reel.

Our team were also on hand to provide on-stage content and the voice of God from the stage at the iGB Affiliate Awards. This year marked the return of a live format with a Greatest Showman themed extravaganza at The Troxy, with award winners able to watch back their moment of glory on the awards night highlights video.

With many shows finally returning to their usual calendar slots and seeing record visitor numbers, its clear that the appetite for in-person events has returned. After a busy February, we’re looking forward to maximising the potential of many more event brands throughout 2023, giving them a greater reach and staying power through our range of video solutions.
