Reaching one billion IoT mobile connections is a marker of how connected technologies have become woven into everyday life and industry.
To celebrate this global milestone, GSMA commissioned Smart Digital to create a series of videos, which would bring to life the story of IoT’s evolution: from its development, to where we are now, and a look towards its future potential.
For this project, the Smart Digital team created:
- A 10‑minute documentary exploring the past, present, and future of IoT
- A 2.5‑minute highlight launch version unveiled at the IoT Summit at MWC Barcelona
- A short teaser video edit created specifically for LinkedIn audiences
To honour the milestone, GSMA screened the launch video at the Mobile World Congress IoT Summit in Barcelona which brought together tech professionals from across the entire IoT ecosystem.
The videos offered insights from industry leaders who have shaped the IoT landscape, with the full length version featuring soundbites from experts from Vodafone, Google DeepMind, Sony, AT&T, and Deutsche Telekom.
Narration was provided by Justin Springham, publisher of Mobile World Live, with footage curated by Smart Digital editor Sean Miller illustrating how IoT has impacted our daily lives.
The team provided end-to-end support for the project, which included:
- Advising on scripting and run-time
- Scheduling and recording all speaker interviews
- Editing and producing the final videos
- Delivering versions optimised for big screen, GSMA’s online platform, and LinkedIn
